Group Work

Group Work provides a safe space for our young women to explore, learn and support each other, allowing them to process challenges in a different way. It takes them out of their thoughts, channelling energy into something more fun.

Group Work Programmes include creative sessions, activities, focus groups, residentials and peer support. It provides social connection and the opportunity to try something new, building confidence while also working through issues in a positive and creative way.

Being able to share their views in a safe and trusted space gives our young women a sense of purpose and reduces the social stigma felt by survivors of sexual abuse. They learn that they can make a positive impact on others through their experiences and show each other a great sense of empathic understanding on a level that can be impossible for our workers to achieve. Supporting each other highlights that they have so much more to offer as individuals, that they are not defined by their trauma, and that they have a variety of strengths and skills that open up new opportunities.

Group types include:

  • Drop In sessions
  • Mindful Movement
  • Sculpting Group
  • Sexual Health and Relationships
  • Speak Out
  • Stigma Comic Art Group
  • Green Spaces
  • Summer Activities

Testimonial

“The staff don’t give up on me when life gets hard for me, even when I push staff away they are still there for me. And I like how we are encouraged to be independent.”
